A subtle argument on the nature of society

Here's where the core of argument lies. Most people think that all people should, in theory, have an equal shot at life. I do not. If you want a world where everyone has equal opportunity, everyone must come from literally identical genetic and social environments. No one would want to live in a world like that, because most people think the idea of the state rolling out baby-clones on an assembly line is a bit disturbing.

If we are to live in a world with any reasonable amount of freedom at all, then we have to accept that not everyone is going to get equal opportunity. You can't have both. There are people born to wealth, people born to poverty, people born healthy, people born sick, people born beautiful, people born ugly, people born smart, and people born dumb. It is unquestionably not fair, but like it or not that is a cold, hard fact of reality.

It is also very reasonable to say that some people are better for society and some people are worse. The upper middle class does a much better job of producing civilized, productive, independent human beings than the lower class. I agree that it's not fair, but the fact is we are much wealthier as a society having someone that operates a competitive business, has good health, and is a generally civilized human being, rather than someone who lacks these qualities. In fact, the poor are quite literally a drain on social resources; they have fewer economic skills, poorer health, and a greater predisposition to antisocial activity. In a free market, the only ones who would die would be the ones who otherwise consume more than they produce. I don't see why it is in our best interests to protect the lives of those who currently harm us.

Now note, I am not advocating artificial eugenics (i.e. Hitler-esque policy) here. The beauty of natural selection is that those who are selected are the ones that need to be selected. Under natural selection, those who do good for society are rewarded and those who do not are not rewarded. Those with responsible parenting skills will continue their family line whereas those who don't will have their line terminated.
